Technical Notes:

• The door station has a dry contact relay that is activated when an unlock command is sent while in a call or monitoring the camera.  The dry contact is used to trigger an open command or connect existing power to an electric strike (it can also open a contact to remove existing power if applicable).  The door station does not provide power to any external device and if power is required it must be supplied by an external supply.  Please ask your electric strike supplier to also supply the power supply required to make the device work.
• The dry contact is on the door station as that is the shortest route to the electric strike or controller in most situations.
• An additional door / gate may be controlled by adding a door unlock expander module to the system.  The unlock expander is connected to the door station and provides an additional dry contact that is activated by a second icon when in a call or monitoring the camera.  4 wires are required between the unlock expander and the door station.  The unlock expander provides a dry contact only and will not provide power to the strike or lock as per the door station.
• The door station and monitors are connected and powered by a PoE switch in most situations.  You can use a local 12V power supply instead and you must order these as they are not supplied.
• The cat5 or cat6 cables connecting the door station, PoE switch, and monitor must be configured as per TIA/EIA 568A at both ends (or 568B at both ends).  Any other cabling configuration is not supported and connection to it will void your warranty.  Just because a cheap cable tester says that the conductors are connected end to end does not mean the cable will work.  The standard treats the conductors in pairs which are twisted to ensure best noise immunity.  For safety we recommend you use a licenced cabler or an electrician to install your cables as it is possible to cause electrical safety hazards where data cable and electrical cable may come into contact inside walls or ceilings or in conduit.
• Always ensure there are drip loops on cable to ensure any condensation will drip and not wick into cable connectors.  Water damage will void warranty.
• Always seal around outdoor intercom components with suitable silicon and seal any holes or joins to ensure water or condenstation does ot enter the device.
