39m Driveway, no cables, intercom and cctv solution
Jim from Tasmania contacted us looking for an intercom solution for his long driveway. He didn’t have cables to the gate for an IP intercom but did have power at the gate for a motorised gate. Potential for vandalism required a tough intercom. He also wanted to enhance his iVSEC CCTV system with a camera capable of identifying visitors and vandals 39m away. This is the solution we recommended:
Intercom Solution
4G Intercom & Access Control
A 4G audio door station for anywhere where connecting a network is difficult or temporary installation required. Works with all networks.
The Aristel 4G Intercom and Access Control solution provides an audio intercom with calls to mobile. The intercom can call up to 3 numbers (mobile or landline).
It can be programmed with numbers that will cause the gate to open without answering when called. Essentially it detects the caller ID and opens the gate for no call cost.
Jim had a battery backed electric gate system and was able to tap into the power for the intercom. In the event of a power outage he will still receive visitor calls and can open the gate.
Jim engraved the stainless steel plate with his address as can be seen below. He also swapped the front panel screws for M4 Torx tamper proof fasteners to stop theft or vandalism.
CCTV – Long Range Camera
The driveway is 39m from the home and a long range camera was needed to assist with identifying visitors and vandals. An existing iVSEC CCTV system was enhanced with an iVSEC IVNC528XA

The IVSEC NC528XA IP security camera offers a 5 Megapixel resolution sensor combined with a 5-50 mm vari-focal motorised lens (50.9 to 7.6° field of view).
The built-in infrared illumination enables night vision at up to an impressive 80 metres. Perfect for the 39m driveway – see night time image below
When used together with the IVSEC X series recorders, this camera will be automatically detected with Plug & Play. This made it easy to add to the existing system and was up and running in no time
The following images show the camera view during day time and at night. The lens is motorised and the zoom can be adjusted at any time to optimise the sensor.
80m Infrared illumination ensures any access to the driveway, day or night, will be recorded with good detail.

The camera also supports Intelligent Video (IVS): Motion Detection, Video Loss, Tampering Detection, Storage Exception, Perimeter Intrusion Detection, Line Crossing Detection, Stationary Object Detection, Pedestrian Detection, Face Detection, and Cross Counting.
