Winwave Communications – Extended PoE Solution.

James from Winwave Communications contacted us looking for a CCTV solution that would allow connection of cameras over a 300m distance (standard maximum distance for ethernet is 100m).  Here is what he had to say about his latest project using VIP Vision CCTV and extended PoE cameras and network switch:

I had not used VIP Vision before but I chose to use it as the customer had already a few sites with this brand, also the ePoe option was great as he had the entrance to the property 300m away and another separate solar/Wi-Fi gear was just not practical.

Note: ePoE uses techniques to extend data and power distances over cat5/6 cable.  ePoE devices (camera and NVR / Switch) required at each end of the cable

The NVR and cameras where quite easy to setup with remote access very good as well.

The 48V setup was a small challenge as the Wi-Fi gear I use is 18-24V instead of the 48V the cameras need so some extra gear was needed to do the job properly.

Note: 48VDC was required for the ePoE switch

At the moment all of my work focuses on rural properties which all have communication problems, I specialise in mobile phone repeaters, long range Wi-Fi, and faster internet options than satellite, so adding these cameras so people can view their property’s when there not around is a vital asset to my company, Winwave Communications.

I’d also like to say a big thanks for your support over the process. It has certainly made the whole process smoother and is probably the biggest reason I will continue to buy these products.
